BSDA: Education for All (Cambodia)
BSDA (Buddhism for Social Development Action) is a nonprofit organization based in Kampong Cham, Cambodia. The BSDA's Education for All initiative is part of a broader effort to transform educational prospects for vulnerable children all over the country.
It takes less than $350 per year for the BSDA to provide a vulnerable, out-of-school child with the support necessary to stay in school. Assistance comes in a variety of forms, including living stipends to ensure that the child's most basic needs are being met, school supplies, after-school support, school enrollmennt campaigns, and remedial reading classes.
The BSDA was founded in 2005 by seven Buddhist monks. Today, it has more than 60 staff, 100 community volunteers, and over 5,000 beneficiaries in five provinces. The BSDA aims to "empower vulnerable people, and to promote passionate engagement in social and economic development to eradicate avoidable suffering." The Rustic Pathways Foundation is proud to support this remarkable organization in their efforts.
